Playing from White Tees
The WCC Men's Association has chosen the Blue tee markers as the standard for play in all men's events unless otherwise specified. However, since the introduction of the fourth (gold) tee marker the committee has approved the use of the White tee markers as an alternative for the Men's Association.
The committee recommends that members whose Blue tee handicap plus their age is greater than or equal to 90 play from the White tee markers. In addition, members who don't meet the 90+ criteria but feel the Blue tees are too challenging can also elect to play from the White tee markers.
When playing from the White tee markers you must adjust you handicap in the following manner. Using your current GHIN handicap index, look up your white tee handicap from the sheet posted in the Pro Shop. Then, in order to adjust for the lower course rating from the White tee markers (70.1-68.1=2) subtract two (2) stroke from that to derive your handicap for play when you are in an event where most of the men are playing from the Blue tee markers. This follows the USGA guidelines published in the Position Paper which can be read at this web link.
When signing up for tournaments on a sheet in the Pro Shop, you must put '(WT)' beside your name so the Pro Shop can make the correct adjustment prior to printing out tournament score cards. For other events that don't require advanced sign up you can declare on the first tee to your foursome. In this case mark the '(WT)' beside your name on the score card.
